Snowy and Darcie
You are probably wondering why I'm called 'The Pony Fairy'. It all started when my daughter needed a new pony after her old one passed away on Boxing Day 1999. A search started for a new pony for her. I found it very hard to find a pony that was sane and nicely trained for a reasonable price. I wasn't very technological back then so spent many hours looking at ponies that just weren't what the people said they were...smaller, taller, older or wilder than I was told before I got there. This got me rather frustrated! I also thought I'm probably not the only person out there looking and I had over 40 years of experience to help me out and I was still having a hard time. Over the many years we had bred ,raised and trained several different breeds of horses so it was an easy (so I thought ) transition into the world of ponies. My previous circle of contacts didn't include pony people and most of the contacts I had from the other breeds didn't have any kids left at home so I was going to have to break new ground. I was also looking for a new vaulting horse at the time so emailed a lady, named Darcy, who had a big fellow for sale. I didn't end up buying him but found a person who could help me sell the ponies I had somehow acquired along the way during the search for one for my daughter. She'd email me and ask what I had or tell me what she needed and we'd go from there.

After selling several ponies , one day I got this email that
was titled 'Dear Pony Fairy' and in it was another request from Darcy.
I liked the idea and the name...fairies make dreams and wishes come true
and that's what I'd hoped to do...match ponies with the perfect
people for them.
And so the tale continues......I now have ponies of all shapes and sizes and levels of training. Training methods include many natural horsemanship techniques and clicker training (like they do with the dolphins...see clicker training page for more info and links). The result is a calm, safe pony that is eager to please and willing to learn. I have several skilled ladies (young and not so young) that without their help all this would not be possible. They help with the training, marketing and hauling (not to mention the brushing and cleaning and clipping etc.). The picture to the left is of my daughter Darcie and her wonderful friend Snowy de Bobbers, an 11 year old welsh cross mare we bought from Saskatchewan.
